There is something so special about getting the entire family together for updated portraits! Grandparents, siblings, cousins, and all the little moments in between are memories you’ll treasure for years to come.

This beautiful extended family session took place at Oak Point Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas, and I found my new favorite spot! Right behind one of the buildings was the prettiest patch of colorful flowers that created the most vibrant backdrop without having to walk far at all. It made family portraits feel bright, timeless, and full of life.

One of the reasons I love recommending Oak Point Nature Preserve for extended family sessions is because it offers so much variety in one location. You’ll find beautiful trees, open fields, walking paths, bridges, water, and seasonal flowers—all without requiring everyone to hike long distances. That’s especially helpful when you’re photographing grandparents and young children together!

If your family is spread across the Metroplex, Plano is also a wonderful central meeting location, making it convenient for everyone to gather while still enjoying a gorgeous setting.
