“When should I book my newborn session?”

And honestly, the answer depends a lot on the photographer you are wanting to work with.

However, one thing I always want expecting moms to know is that with me, there is often much more flexibility when it comes to newborn photography scheduling.

The Best Time to Book Your Newborn Session

The truth is, it is never too early to book your newborn photographer.

You can absolutely book your session:

• when you first find out you are pregnant
• during your second trimester
• during your third trimester
• after baby arrives
• or even several months into pregnancy

Depending on the season and availability, many families are still able to schedule newborn photos once baby has already arrived.

Since we are photographing in your home, we do not have to worry about studio availability, which means families can often wait a bit longer before officially scheduling.

Lifestyle newborn sessions at home can be incredibly relaxed, meaningful, and personal because they capture your family exactly where this season of life is unfolding.

When to Book a Studio Newborn Session

If you are hoping for an in-studio newborn session, I do recommend booking earlier whenever possible.

This is especially important if your due date falls during the fall season.

Fall is by far the busiest season for photographers because of:

• family photos
• holiday card sessions
• maternity sessions
• fall mini sessions

Studios tend to book very quickly during this time of year, so reserving your newborn session a few months in advance can help ensure studio availability.
